GTA 6 on PS5 Pro: what's confirmed and what isn't

By GTA 6 Legit ยท Last checked Nov 6, 2026

Rockstar hasn't confirmed 60 FPS on any console, PS5 Pro included. What's official: the PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as PS5 Pro Enhanced, so the Pro version has some Pro-specific improvement. But that label doesn't promise a frame rate, and the store page lists no frame rate, resolution or performance mode. We haven't tested GTA 6 on a PS5 Pro. This page checks the claims and gets updated after launch with real measurements.

What's confirmed for GTA 6 on PS5 Pro: PS5 Pro Enhanced, yes, per the PlayStation Store; 60 FPS not confirmed; performance mode not announced; tested by GTA 6 Legit: not yet.

The claims, checked

  • "GTA 6 is PS5 Pro Enhanced": True. It's on the official PlayStation Store page, next to the PS5 version.
  • "Enhanced means 60 FPS": Not guaranteed. Sony hasn't published a fixed rule. Reports from 2024 said a game could earn the label with any one of: a higher resolution, a higher frame rate, or ray tracing.
  • "GTA 6 runs at 60 FPS on PS5 Pro": Can't call it. Rockstar hasn't said it, and the store page doesn't mention it. The 60 FPS stories come from leaks nobody has confirmed.
  • "GTA 6 is locked to 30 FPS on consoles": Reported. Several outlets report Rob Nelson told a YouTuber the console build was running at 30 FPS and that a 60 FPS mode wasn't decided. That's secondhand, and Rockstar hasn't announced any performance modes.

Why a faster console doesn't guarantee 60 FPS

The PS5 Pro's big upgrade is the graphics chip. Its processor is essentially the same as a regular PS5's, according to Digital Foundry. Busy open worlds with lots of people and traffic often hit the processor first, so a faster graphics chip can mean a sharper picture without doubling the frame rate. That's an explanation of how consoles work, not a measurement of GTA 6.

Rockstar's own history: GTA 4, GTA 5 on PS4 and Red Dead 2 all ran at 30 FPS on consoles at launch. GTA 5 only got a 60 FPS mode with the PS5 version years later.

If you're deciding whether to buy a Pro

  • Don't buy one for 60 FPS until Rockstar or a proper test shows it.
  • If Rockstar adds a 40 FPS mode, you'd need a TV that does 120 Hz to use it. That's how other PS5 games handle 40 FPS.
  • We'll update this page after November 19 with what testers actually measure.
